In Which We Discover That Patience Is Not My Strongest Suit

Bought a book from Amazon; the latest Stephen King.
Waited, none too patiently, the mailman didn't bring
Us the book I'd purchased back at Christmas. Now I must
Go and buy another one...  You'll understand, I trust.

Think I'll buy the Kindle type, although it's $13 bucks.
Know the pictures aren't as good but that thing neatly tucks
Into any pocket and, for Stephen, that's quite rare.
Sure, you may have bought the book, but I just got a pair.

Not as crazy as it sounds. The first one is a gift.
Gave it to my sister so I'd have to wait my shift.
Patience, it's quite plain to see, is not my strongest suit.
Too late now to change my ways; an old and stubborn coot.

Thankfully, my ever loving husband, Mr. S.
Knows that fact about me and, apparently, cares less.
Oops, I have to go now... Won't be back until I'm done.
Mailman may be late, but Kindle's through downloading one.

The Boston Bruins - Goodbye at the Garden

Boston Bruins saluted their fans at the Garden last night.  Their fans saluted them right back.

Last night, Boston sports fans saw their hopes collapse in ruins;
Capitals of Washington were here...  They beat the Bruins.
Stunned and silent hockey fans sat, slumping, in their seat.
Shocked - for just a moment - by their overtime defeat.

Then they did the city proud.  They rose and cheered the team.
Garden's roof resounded with the crowd's approving scream.
Though the skill is not the first that most of us would choose,
Unlike many cities; Boston's fans know how to lose.

I may have to eat my words; I read the Twittersphere -
Found that shocking racial slurs originated here.
No excuses for such crap - not even when you're mad.
Seems a few Neanderthals have made us all look bad.

The Secret Service's (Not So Secret) Dirty, Little Secret

Geographic bachelors who travel T.A.D.*
"Wheels up - rings off"'s a tradition not unknown to me.
Cannot say that I approve, although I know it's done;
Work hard, all day, macho style... At night you have some fun.

Many sailors had themselves a wife in every port
('though not the majority, I'm happy to report.)
Still, I always thought the Secret Service was exempt
Knowing that the President's a target that will tempt

Every crackpot loony who would like to take a shot.
Looks like, in Colombia, the team sent there forgot.
Here's what I don't understand; Obama is to blame?
That's the line Republicans have taken.  Pretty lame.

Seems to me the President has plenty on his plate.
Not his job to check out those who his protectors date.
Now the bunch will lose their jobs as penance for their sin.
In a fight with prostitutes the johns don't ever win.
