Boston Red Sox Fans Are Weird.

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQr3gFOnsgwJ7V20vz-3yCaaQffr6hhv6BPyPSlBsus7eoP-FJi
What?

Red Sox are advancing 'cause, last night, we beat the Rays.
Don't know who we're playing next; the Tigers or the A's.
All we know is we'll be here at home and better rested.
Fans have hopes so high right now, we ought'a be arrested.

Saturday is game one in the A.L. pennant chase.
Either way, whichever team the Red Sox have to face,
They will feel the Fenway Faithful - many with a beard...
Proving to the nation that, up here, we're kinda weird.

I make no predictions 'cause I want the Sox to win.
I don't want to jinx the team before the games begin.
When I write a rhyme about my teams they tend to lose.
You would not take chances either, were you in my shoes.

The New England Patriots - Enough is Enough

Uh oh...  That's a no no.  (Photo/BleacherReport.com)

Touchdown? Interception? Interference? Maybe not.
Ball goes past the uprights...  Where's the instant replay shot?
My coach was so angry with officials Sunday night
That he touched a referee and, though it wasn't right,

Who on earth can blame the guy?  I would have done it too.
Bad officiating means my Pats are 1 and 2.
Monday Night was terrible.  The Packers should have won.
This is just ridiculous.  Let's get the contract done.

Games are running longer; there's more fighting on the field.
Give the refs a pension plan.  It's time (and past) to yield.
Seems by now, with all the fines the coaches have to pay,
There should be enough (and more) to fund an IRA.

The New England Patriots - Let The Games Begin!

New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady.  (Photo/playqb.com)
Thank you gods for football season...  Baseball season's stunk.
Watching as our hopes to make the play-offs, daily, shrunk.
Red Sox broke our hearts this year.  The Bruins may still strike.
None of that will matter once Tom Brady takes the hike.

Don't want to get cocky here - the sports gods disapprove -
Also know the Titans have receivers who can move.
Still, I like our chances and predict the Pats will win.
Can't tell you how ready I am.  Let the games begin!

Happy Fathers' Day

Photo credit:  Getty Images

 I don't envy fathers.  I wouldn't want their jobs
(Meaning those who do it right and not the worthless slobs).
Those who haul their tired butts up off the couch and go
Off to coach their children's teams - despite the ice and snow.

Those who do their part each day to keep the family fed,
Make the efforts to insure that their kids get ahead.
I've been very fortunate; the fathers that I know?
Every day there's something makes my admiration grow.

Husband, brother, father, and my sister's husband, too;
Their kids have it pretty good.  I hope that's true for you...
Hoping that your off-spring wash your car or mow your lawn
Giving you a little peace...  The U.S. Open's on.

Tiger's looking dangerous - I'm sure he'll make the cut.
Bubba and Phil Mickelson are way behind now, but
Watson's a new father and - as fathers can attest -
Best way to be celebrating Sunday?  Get some rest.

The Boston Celtics - A Prayer to the Sports Gods

Celtics face game 7 and I'm praying I was wrong;
That the sports gods do not plan to string us fans along.
Hoping that the era of our Big 3 isn't dead;
That the Celtics win the series they so lately led.

Luck will have to favor us to stave off a defeat.
Last night, it was pretty clear, the sports gods chose the Heat.
Nothing seemed to go our way - we couldn't catch a break.
Don't know how much more of this my Celtics' heart can take.

Basketballs can seem to jump through hoops...  But, sometimes not.
Last night, in the Garden, Celtics couldn't make a shot.
Pierce would throw it up and it just rattled off the rim.
Plus, let's not forget LeBron... There was no stopping him.

Garnett, and now Rondo, have both proven that they're tough.
(Have you tried those knuckle push-ups? Trust me, 1's enough.)
Garden fans sent up a cheer that sounded like a prayer;
"Let's Go Celtics!" Please, dear sports gods, help us out down there.

This Week in Boston Sports

https://encrypted-tbn2.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQWu8bEsEkfjtT10Is3H85niYygeW2zHI4SzzYOVS2Z034tfwVvwA
Perhaps we were a (trifle) too cocky?
Summing up this week in Boston sports is not much fun.
Only good news to report is that the Celtics won;
Beat Atlanta's Hawks to make it to the second round.
They're the only Ray of light, in Boston, to be found.

Carl Beane - he's the Voice of Fenway - died; a heart attack.
Matt Light just retired; Brady's sure to feel his lack.
Seau's dead.  The Red Sox are imploding.  Holy crap!
Watched the news the other night and saw Josh Beckett snap.

He is taking lots of heat for playing golf when he
Should have been recovering from recent injury.
Fenway's Faithful booed him off the field and he was mad.
Can't say that I blame him; stuff like that makes me feel bad.

No team out there wants to lose.  Let's give the guys a break.
Give them time to work it out; watch basketball instead...
Thank God for the Celtics and the fact that you're not dead.

Carl Beane; the Voice of Fenway for the last 10 years, dead at age 59.
