The Boston Red Sox - Reflections From a Pink Hat

Red Sox fans, this morning, are still reeling from the news;
And I don't mean at the fact that our team didn't lose.
I am speaking of the trades...  They've gone and cleared the deck.
Blew it up in hopes of seeing salvage from the wreck.

Even Pink Hat fans, like me, have given this team up.
Do we think there's more to do to fix the problems? Yup.
Don't know how it happened; who's deserving of the blame...
But the Pesky funeral attendance was a shame.

Papi, Salty, Buchholz and Padilla - those 4 went.
Maybe no-one realized the message that was sent...
In a town like Boston, where a lot of Irish live,
Blowing off a legend is a sin we don't forgive.

Nomar came and Youk sent his regrets...  He had to play.
They displayed the spirit missing from the team today.
Papi seems to have it and I'm sorry that he's hurt.
Season's over anyway. He should hang up his shirt.

Let him rest, then bring him back next year to lead the team.
Hope that he'll step up to be the Keeper of the Dream.
Baseball here in Boston isn't just about the stats...
Not when half your audience is watching in pink hats.

This Week in Boston Sports

Perhaps we were a (trifle) too cocky?
Summing up this week in Boston sports is not much fun.
Only good news to report is that the Celtics won;
Beat Atlanta's Hawks to make it to the second round.
They're the only Ray of light, in Boston, to be found.

Carl Beane - he's the Voice of Fenway - died; a heart attack.
Matt Light just retired; Brady's sure to feel his lack.
Seau's dead.  The Red Sox are imploding.  Holy crap!
Watched the news the other night and saw Josh Beckett snap.

He is taking lots of heat for playing golf when he
Should have been recovering from recent injury.
Fenway's Faithful booed him off the field and he was mad.
Can't say that I blame him; stuff like that makes me feel bad.

No team out there wants to lose.  Let's give the guys a break.
Give them time to work it out; watch basketball instead...
Thank God for the Celtics and the fact that you're not dead.

Carl Beane; the Voice of Fenway for the last 10 years, dead at age 59.

The Boston Red Sox - A Prayer for the Home Opener

Should have asked for winning in my prayer the other week;
When I told the sports gods that the only boon I'd seek
Was a starting record better than the year before
(And that wish was granted - barely - if you're keeping score).

Red Sox stand at 1 and 5.  Last year? Naught and 6.
Thanks a lot there, sports gods.  Now, could you guys, maybe, fix
Problems with the pitching for our Opener today?
Let the Red Sox win at home we, in the Nation, pray.

I can smell the popcorn and the sausages from here...
Please dear sports gods - give us Red Sox fans something to cheer.
Haven't I been good and true?  A Faithful fan and daughter?
Let the stands of Fenway ring with strains of Dirty Water.

  Good luck Josh Beckett!

Open in case of Victory.
