Pity the Boston Sports Fan

Boston sports fans haven't had a lot of things to cheer;
Just a week and all our hopes for glory disappear.
We are plagued with injuries and not a lot of wins...

Yesterday the Celtics' fans grew worried; 'though we won.
Rondo tore his ACL - which means his season's done.
That's a major problem.  Rajon Rondo has been key
Now that it's the Heat that cheers at "Ray Allen for threeee!"

I still cannot talk about the Patriots' collapse.
It left me depressed and I'm afraid I may relapse.
21 unanswered points? Just what the heck was that?
Since when is our Offense so spectacularly flat?

Good news is that now I can enjoy the Super Bowl.
If your team is in it, watching football takes its toll.
Patriots are out of it; they've packed away their pads.
I don't care who wins the game; I'll watch it for the ads.

Pity the poor Bruins though, with such a daunting task;
All the hopes of Boston fans on them and  Tuukka Rask.
Celtics are in trouble now that Rajon Rondo's out.
Boston fans need some sports team that we can brag about.

The Boston Celtics - A Prayer to the Sports Gods

Celtics face game 7 and I'm praying I was wrong;
That the sports gods do not plan to string us fans along.
Hoping that the era of our Big 3 isn't dead;
That the Celtics win the series they so lately led.

Luck will have to favor us to stave off a defeat.
Last night, it was pretty clear, the sports gods chose the Heat.
Nothing seemed to go our way - we couldn't catch a break.
Don't know how much more of this my Celtics' heart can take.

Basketballs can seem to jump through hoops...  But, sometimes not.
Last night, in the Garden, Celtics couldn't make a shot.
Pierce would throw it up and it just rattled off the rim.
Plus, let's not forget LeBron... There was no stopping him.

Garnett, and now Rondo, have both proven that they're tough.
(Have you tried those knuckle push-ups? Trust me, 1's enough.)
Garden fans sent up a cheer that sounded like a prayer;
"Let's Go Celtics!" Please, dear sports gods, help us out down there.

The Boston Celtics - 0 and 2

I don't think the officials like us very much.  (Photo credit: BleacherReport.com)
  I'm not optimistic for this series with the Heat
After watching last night's painful, overtime defeat.
Don't think the officiating helped us out at all...
But, I must admit, I'm not a fan of basketball.

Yes, I like the Celtics and I'm hoping that they win
(What I'm really praying for is football to begin.)
Basketball's exhausting - watching giant, sweaty men
Racing up and down and back and forth, then down again.

I'm just sitting in a chair and I am out of breath...
Celtics haven't had a rest; they've got to be near death.
'though they've played their hearts out - Rondo's been a joy to see -
I think they'll win 1 or 2.  At most - they might win 3.

Guess I shouldn't count them out.  The struggle will be fierce.
Still, we've got Garnett and Doc, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce.
Even though they're tired and despite their nagging hurts
Those are proud and seasoned fighters wearing Celtics shirts.
