#ShePersisted

Jeff Sessions won't do, Liz insisted.
Admonished, still Warren persisted.
She got the word out.
By wielding their clout
The GOP Leaders assisted.

Amateur Hour in Washington

Image result for silencing elizabeth warren memes

"Silencing" Liz Warren had the opposite effect;
Just another reason I'm beginning to suspect
That the folks in Washington who hold the reins of power
Run our government like some bad amateur hour.

I said I'd give Donald Trump's Administration time
And I've kept my promise... Not a single snarky rhyme.
Although we're just two weeks in - to me, it feels like years -
And, already, Donald Trump's the sum of my worst fears.

I have tried to understand...  I'm watching Fox and Friends,
Where they breathlessly report each tweet the Donald sends.
But I've started having trouble telling what is true.
Scary knowing it's where Trump gets Daily Briefings, too.

Poor Sarah

 Image result for sarah palin meme

Sarah Palin's channel has been generating buzz;
She attacked a Massachusetts' Senator because
Warren's a Progressive.  In a speech she gave a list
Of the things that she believes.  You missed it?  Here's the gist:

She believes Progressives (whom the Right wing call "elites")
Have to start addressing problems in our nation's streets;
Need to regulate the banks, demand a decent wage...
Made the case for student loans and science while on stage.

In a strange rebuttal Sarah's calling "common sense"
Palin acted like she'd taken personal offense.
Mocking and sarcastic; condescending in her tone,
Sometimes incoherent, in a style that's all her own.

Normally, when Sarah Palin starts to move her lips,
I sit back and laugh about her many verbal slips.
Sometimes I make popcorn but I've started feeling bad;
Turns out mental illness isn't funny...  It's just sad.

Flunking Economics

Neither of our sons will face a huge tuition bill;
They won't have to pay for college 'cause their father will.
I assume they're both aware how fortunate they are
And will quit complaining that we won't buy them a car.

They're in the minority...  Most students need a loan;
Going into debt before they're out and on their own.
Starting life with shiny new degrees and payments due.
'though Obama wants to help, there's not much he can do.

If he said that water's wet the Right would say he's wrong.
You can kiss the Warren bill for loan reform so long.
GOP calls it a stunt; her bill will never pass...
Were I teaching Economics, they would flunk my class.

If your future work-force faces huge amounts of debt,
Forcing them to take the first job offer they can get,
Spending shrinking wages paying off their student loans,
They won't have the income to be keeping up with Jones.

Unsolicited Advice for Senator Elizabeth Warren

Available now in bookstores and on Amazon.

Massachusetts' Senator (of whom we're rather proud)
On a tour to sell her book's begun to draw a crowd.
There are calls for her to run for President next time
But, as her constituent, my free advice (in rhyme);

Dear Elizabeth; May I suggest that you should wait.
Keep on doing what you are - a credit to this state.
Build up more alliances and stick it to the banks...
Something that you're doing well at now, Ma'am.  Many thanks.

Hillary is gonna run for President, I'd bet.
She will get the nomination; you're not ready yet.
Not to say that, if you ran, that you would not be great.
But the best that you could hope for?  Clinton's running-mate.

Senate needs a leader who will do the People's work -
Someone who knows where the money merchants tend to lurk...
Work that you are doing now is vital to us all;
If they try to draft you Senator? Don't take their call.

The 113th Congress - A Sisterhood of Senators?

Image result for 20 women senators

Twenty women Senators...  I guess that it's a start.
Mustn't get excited; put the horse before the cart.
Just because they're women doesn't mean they'll all agree.
Still, I'm very glad that Warren's representing me.

She might soon be senior in a funny twist of fate.
Kerry, if confirmed, will leave to take the reins at State.
(Barney Frank would like his job, but doesn't want to run.
As of now, in recent polls, Scott Brown is number one.)

As the Senior Senator from Massachusetts, she
Steps into the shoes once filled by Teddy Kennedy.
Warren's smart; she'll learn the moves for Senate cloakroom deals,
And, like 19 others, she'll be making them in heels.

The Massachusetts Senate Race - The 1st Debate

WBZ TV is moderating the first of 4 debates between Elizabeth Warren(D) and Scott Brown(R)

Polling here in Massachusetts for the Senate race:
Two show Warren leading with Scott Brown in second place.
One says Brown's ahead by 6 - Elizabeth will lose.
Polls are meant to clarify the picture, not confuse.

Both the candidates will get together here tonight.
This debate should demonstrate what they'll bring to the fight.
I'm still leaning Warren's way but listening to Scott.
Am I still persuadable?  I don't know...  Maybe not.

'though I like the fact that Brown's bipartisan and nice
I am not prepared to make Obama pay the price.
I think he'll need every Democrat that he can get;
Thus, electing Warren seems (to me) the safest bet.

The Massachusetts' Senate Race

Elizabeth Warren
Elizabeth Warren, Democratic candidate for Senate

Almost everyone I know's a liberal Democrat...
Here in Massachusetts they could not imagine that
I would ever give Scott Brown some credit or a look;
Just assume that Warren has my vote and close the book.

After all, I do agree with all of Warren's views,
And the fact she's smarter than him isn't breaking news,
But I've had some contact with his office on a bill -
Didn't like positions he had taken on the Hill -

They responded right away.  He later changed his vote.
Got a lovely calendar after my thank you note.
Brown agrees to compromise; he's middle of the road.
Still, it makes me nervous that his coffers overflowed

With donations corporations gave to help him win
Leading me to wonder if, maybe, the fix is in.
One is known to others by the company he keeps.
Wall Street wants Scott Brown to win - contributed in heaps.

So, I guess I'm guilty of what I profess to hate;
I will vote for Warren and contribute to the state
Of affairs (or lack thereof) the Senate has become.
Voting for a guy because he's nice would just be dumb
