Dear Mother Nature... Really?

 Image result for beach meme

More than half way through the month of April and it's cold!
We had snow this morning...  Winter's getting pretty old.
Don't know how much more of cold and rainy I can take.
I've  grown really sick of it.  I need a little break.

Somewhere warm and sunny - near an ocean - would be nice.
Margaritas on the beach?  Don't need to ask me twice.
It's not gonna happen but a girl can always dream...
Still, if I don't see the sun tomorrow I will scream.

Thank You National Grid, et al.

Image may contain: one or more people

Massachusetts just survived a pretty tough two weeks;
Three Nor'easters blew through here, as Mother Nature sneaks
One last blast of winter in - with two more feet of snow
Covering the broken trees that fell six days ago.

'though there is a lot of shoveling I must complete,
Once I'm done I get to come inside to lights and heat
'cause we got our power back before this latest storm
And we made it through unscathed... I hear we're not the norm.

Lots of people on the Cape are sitting in the dark
As the temperatures descend below the freezing mark.
Thank you to the power crews who came from out of town,
Hard at work replacing all the lines these storms brought down.

I know we'll all get through this because we always do...
Blizzards in New England in the Spring are nothing new.
Doesn't mean we have to like it though - unless you ski -
Most of us are sick of winter here... Including me!

Do The Math

Image result for climate change deniers meme

How is it, as millions try to flee from Irma's path,
Climate science's deniers still can't do the math?
This is what the scientists predicted coming true.
Ocean's gotten warmer; now the bill is coming due.

Storms that only happen every thousand years or so
Hitting the United States for two weeks in a row?
Catastrophic floods in Houston; Florida's up next.
It seems evident to me that Mother Nature's vexed.

If our prayers aren't answered - if the hurricane won't turn -
I hope Mar-a-Lago floods.  Then, maybe, Trump will learn
It's not just the "little people" global warming hurts,
Businessmen like him are also gonna lose their shirts.

Up the Creek

Image result for beach in the rain

I feel bad for people on vacation for the week;
Here, in Massachusetts, I'm afraid they're up the creek.
They don't have a paddle either.  Soon they'll have to bail...
It's been raining steadily: there's thunder, lightning, hail.

I've been in that boat before and so I feel their pain;
(Even though an ocean view is gorgeous in the rain)
If you only get a short time off for summer fun
It would stink to pick a week that's so devoid of sun.

I Guess We Won't Always Have Paris

 Image result for nero trump

Trump just pulled us out of Paris...  Makes me wanna weep.
Stomach's churning and I'm having nightmares when I sleep.
Planet Earth's the only home the human race has got -
I'll be dead before the oceans rise...  My sons will not.

'though it's hard to narrow his disasters down to one
So far, this could be the worst thing Donald Trump has done.
Climate change is global. Now our country's walked away.
China's filled the role of leadership we used to play.

All the nations of the world and scientists agree
Global warming's happening.  Well, all except for three:
Syria and Nicaragua...  The United States.
Maybe we can lead the countries Mother Nature hates?

Blue Skying

blue-sky

Back a month or 2 ago, fresh snowfall to my waist,
Swore I wouldn't bitch about the heat...  I spoke in haste.
Not that I'm complaining, mind you (even though it's hot.)
I just wish we'd had a springtime.  This year we did not.

We went straight to summer; it's confusing local trees.
They're all dropping pollen, causing everyone to sneeze.
It's still better than tornadoes, floods, or massive drought.
Blue skies aren't something I would dare complain about.

Plop Goes The 4th

(Photo/Courtesy of Boston.com)

Boston's Pops has cancelled their performance on the 4th
Because there's a major storm, named Arthur, heading north.
They will play tonight instead and, 'though it might still rain,
People won't be sitting outside in a hurricane.

Fireworks displays called off in towns along the coast...
Any outdoor plans you made to celebrate are toast.
Mother Nature's putting on another kind of show.
Batten down the hatches 'cause the winds are gonna blow.

NASA Says We're Screwed

Doesn't matter if you doubt that man caused climate change,
If you aren't concerned by now or don't believe it's strange
That the weather's out of whack - the seasons are delayed -
NASA says Antarctica is melting...  Be afraid.

In about a hundred years its glaciers will be gone
Meaning that the land the ice accumulated on,
Without all that weight, will rise and so, too, will the seas;
Causing devastation almost everyone agrees.

Process cannot be reversed, the NASA spokesman said.
Warmer water seeped between the glaciers and sea bed;
Now they're melting from the bottom as well as the top.
We are screwed.  There's nothing we can do to make it stop.

If we don't take action now - prepare as oceans rise -
Because we're too busy arguing that science lies
It won't matter anyway since it will be too late.
Mother Nature isn't proving open to debate.

Mother Nature is a Bitch

I can't even imagine.

"Oklahoma, where the winds come sweeping down the plain..."
Yesterday the wind did more than sweep - it went insane.
Catastrophic, terrifying, devastating storms
(Hot air met a cold front; it's how a tornado forms);

50 twisters in 2 days, and 1 tore Moore apart.
I can't watch the pictures anymore - they break my heart.
Dazed and battered parents digging blindly, hands for tools,
Trying to uncover children buried in their schools.

One of those tornadoes would convince me not to stay.
I will take a hurricane or blizzard any day.
If I had to live there I would burrow like a gnome.
I might never get to Oz, but I'd still have a home.

Want to know how you can help (besides just thoughts and prayers?)
Something you can do to show the victims someone cares?
Red Cross has a hot line; operators at the switch,
Standing by to help when Mother Nature is a bitch.

Here We Go Again

(Photo/My.Opera.com)

Wish that I could warn my tulips and my daffodils
Foot of snow is on the the way...  I wonder if it kills
Crocuses and other flowers that began to peep
Tender shoots above the ground? They should go back to sleep.

That is what I plan to do with Winter hanging on.
It could be July before this wretched snow is gone.
I like snow for Christmas.  After that, I think it should
Just fall in the mountains so the skiing will be good.

I am more than ready for this Winter to be through...
Calendar says Spring but Mother Nature is a shrew.
Easter Bunny ought to ask to borrow Santa's sleigh
'cause, in Massachusetts, we'll be digging out 'til May.

My Sincerest Apologies to The Weather Channel

The Jersey shore is inundated. (Photo/Associated Press)

New York and New Jersey felt the worst of Sandy's wrath.
There's no hell that has the fury Mother Nature hath.
'though some trees and power lines lie scattered on the ground,
Here in Massachusetts we are, mostly, safe and sound.

I still have my power - only lost a tree or 3.
School's been cancelled 2 days now; the boys are home with me.
Weathermen were right and I should learn to shut my mouth.
Thoughts and prayers go out to those not too much farther south.

Mother Nature is a Witch

Florida got too much rain.  Out West there's not enough.
Seen the pictures on TV? Apocalyptic stuff.
Residents of Florida might need to build an ark.
So much smoke in Colorado, daytime skies are dark.

We have had our share of floods...  My sisters got hit twice.
Watching as the waters slowly rise; it isn't nice.
But, I can't imagine how it feels to watch as flames
Devastate whole neighborhoods. There're no insurance claims

That could ever cover such a terrifying sight.
Country's heart is breaking for the people in this plight.
Puts the whole Supreme Court thing, and Congress in their place.
They're just small potatoes when disaster's face to face.

Student loans, the Health Care Act, the Highway Spending Bill...
Issues we can work out should our Congress find the will.
Mother Nature doesn't care which side you might be on.
When she says "You're out of here" my friends, then you are gone.
