Snow?

Past two days were bright and sunny - in the 70s.
Yet, today, New Englanders are breaking out their skis.
Forecast says it's gonna snow today into tonight...
Makes me want to utter phrases that are not polite.

I know that it's only February here up North -
Where I've seen an inch of hail fall on July the 4th,
Where we've had a foot (or more) of snow on April 1st -
Still, to have a taste of Spring - then lose it - is the worst.

Blue Skying

blue-sky

Back a month or 2 ago, fresh snowfall to my waist,
Swore I wouldn't bitch about the heat...  I spoke in haste.
Not that I'm complaining, mind you (even though it's hot.)
I just wish we'd had a springtime.  This year we did not.

We went straight to summer; it's confusing local trees.
They're all dropping pollen, causing everyone to sneeze.
It's still better than tornadoes, floods, or massive drought.
Blue skies aren't something I would dare complain about.

Florida's Looking Better Every Day

President's Day 2015 Snow, Winchester, MA
(Photo courtesy of Scott Erlich of Winchester, MA/via WCVB ULocal)

I cried "Uncle!" days ago...  We got another storm.
Icicles the size of glaciers have begun to form
On the eaves of houses hidden by the mounds of snow;
So much that we're running out of space for it to go.

Only see my neighbors if they're shoveling their roof
(Not because we're trying to be distant and aloof)
Snowbanks have become so high that people disappear.
You would not believe how much snowfall we've gotten here.

Minus 20 with the wind chill, now; it's bitter cold.
More snow for tomorrow - not a lot, we're being told.
Weekend storm's another matter.  That one could be big.
Never mind our throughway; this is Boston's biggest dig.

Hold The Duck Boats

Image result for duck boat parade, pats 2015

So glad the parade's postponed or I'd be out of luck.
I can't even make it up my driveway yet; I'm stuck.
Hoped to use commuter rail for getting into town
But the snow has caused delays and shut the Red Line down.

Even if I made it up my drive before it's dark,
I can't take my car to Boston.  There's no place to park.
Hopefully tomorrow morning's trains are not delayed
And I'll make it into town in time for the parade.

If I cannot make it though, I want the Pats to know
Don't be fooled tomorrow if the turnout's slightly low.
It won't be because New England fans don't love our team;
Likes of which all other NFL fans only dream.

Thank you Malcolm Butler; thanks Tom Brady...  Mr. Kraft.
Thank you Coach Bill Belichick - a master of his craft.
Please believe there's millions who would like to offer thanks
You just might not see us all behind these huge snowbanks.

The Snow Plow Guy Blues

The forecast is calling for snow.
The winds are beginning to blow.
The piles are so high
That our snowplow guy
Has no place for new stuff to go.

Here We Go Again

(Photo/My.Opera.com)

Wish that I could warn my tulips and my daffodils
Foot of snow is on the the way...  I wonder if it kills
Crocuses and other flowers that began to peep
Tender shoots above the ground? They should go back to sleep.

That is what I plan to do with Winter hanging on.
It could be July before this wretched snow is gone.
I like snow for Christmas.  After that, I think it should
Just fall in the mountains so the skiing will be good.

I am more than ready for this Winter to be through...
Calendar says Spring but Mother Nature is a shrew.
Easter Bunny ought to ask to borrow Santa's sleigh
'cause, in Massachusetts, we'll be digging out 'til May.
