A Little Bit Pregnant?

Image result for can't be a little bit pregnant
(Dilbert cartoon courtesy of/electpeter.blogspot.com)
Never thought I'd grow to miss the Seussilitis bug.
Swore that if the CDC developed some new drug,
I would volunteer for trials pursuant to a cure
Yet, now my obsession's gone, I find I'm not so sure.

It was kinda fun to think my thoughts in metered rhyme,
Didn't mind the fact it was a massive waste of time.
Now that I no longer have the fevered urge I had,
I've been thinking that a relapse wouldn't be so bad.

Maybe just a limerick, a little verse or two.
See if neural pathways will remember what to do.
Right now they are pretty rusty so we'll have to see...
But, if symptoms do return, it still ain't poetry.

Alternative Cure

29 August, 2014 in Funny , Images | Comment
 This month I signed up to write a poem every day...  Less than one week in and I've already gone astray.

Years ago (still not sure how) I caught the rhyming bug;
A disease at which the CDC's inclined to shrug.
What's the problem, they have asked, with people spouting rhymes?
Victims are annoying but their rantings aren't crimes.

No one's working on a cure for Seussilitis yet
But, if symptoms grow severe, the fellas with the net
Come to take the sufferer somewhere that they can rest,
Quarantined from normal people - which is for the best.

Happily, I think I've found a much less drastic cure.
It has worked for me the past few days, and that's for sure;
Get so sick with something else 'til all that you can do
Is to sit and wallow in the misery of your flu.

Freaking Out About Ebola

ebola virus now airborne getty images ebola virus now airborne getty ...

Here in the United States, with people freaking out,
(Even though there's just two cases we're concerned about)
I cannot imagine how West Africans must feel
Knowing their Ebola epidemic's all too real.

With so many sick and dying they've run out of beds,
They don't have clean water - never mind the latest meds.
I can see why they'd be freaking out...  I would be, too.
They've got cases in the thousands.  We've just had a few.

Still, I can't believe the CDC's phone help-line guy
Told the second, Dallas nurse that she was cleared to fly.
That seems rather feckless in the face of this disease.
Let's be much more careful of the public's safety, please.

Unsolicited Advice Regarding Ebola

ebola virus now airborne getty images ebola virus now airborne getty ...

Texas Presbyterian reports a second case;
One more health-care worker caught Ebola from the place.
Both took care of Thomas Duncan who has, sadly, died.
Both say that they followed all procedures - or, they tried.

Lacking the equipment and the training that they'd need
Nursing staff might not be ready - yet they take the lead
In the care of patients so the risk to them is high...
I believe it's time we gave a new approach a try.

We need staff whose specialty's contagion and disease;
Centers where procedure's stricter than the CDC.'s.
When someone is diagnosed you ship the patient there
Where they can receive the most experienced of care.

With the newest treatments and equipment for these fights
There's no need to panic or to shut down all the flights.
Meanwhile, thoughts and prayers go out to those who've gotten sick;
Hoping their recoveries are smooth, complete, and quick.

Dear CDC... Never Mind

(Photo of Ebola virus courtesy of itv.com)

CDC's too busy to investigate my claim;
Seussilitis on the rise and me the one to blame.
They've got bigger problems that they need to focus on.
I will try again once this Ebola threat is gone.

Right now I'd prefer them keeping both eyes on that ball;
Drop this one and it could be a death knell for us all.
With two recent incidents when other balls were dropped
And Ebola's spread in Africa - which hasn't stopped -

I don't want the CDC to waste its precious time
Worrying some Typhoid Mary's out there spreading rhyme.
My disease won't kill you, it will only drive you nuts.
I want those folks working hard on saving people's butts.

Really? Not Really.

One of my favorite views on the planet. (Photo/Courtesy of Peter S. Corr III)

I'm imposing quarantine, informing CDC;
Once again the rhyming bug is being spread by me.
Comments on some recent posts are being done in rhyme.
'til we get this straightened out I'm taking off some time.

Sorry if the Seussilitis bug has bitten you...
I'm afraid there's nothing that the CDC can do.
No-one's working on a cure for this dreadful disease
And, though it's not fatal (1 of 10 experts agrees)

It can drive your loved ones crazy - as it's driven mine.
If you quit your reading now I think you'll still be fine.
Hopefully by August, when my quarantine is lifted,
Public feeling on we poor afflicted will have shifted.

Dear CDC... There's Something Wrong at FOX

It's time to stop playing games. (Card/Courtesy of Allseeingeye2012.blogspot.com)

I've begun to worry that there's something wrong at FOX;
Something in the air that leaves you dumber than an ox.
Maybe it's the water - but the toxic atmosphere
Puts the friends of FOX at risk.  The evidence is clear.

Look at poor Sean Hannity...  The man has lost his mind:
Interviewing any crazy person he can find,
Calling for an insurrection by the nuts with guns
If they grow unhappy with the way the country runs.

I fear it's contagious 'cause I've watched the symptoms spread,
Permeating sufferers with governmental dread,
Causing paranoia and a blindness to the facts.
It is time the Centers for Disease Control team acts.

There's still hope for Hannity's recovery... Look at Beck.
By the time that Glenn left FOX the poor man was a wreck.
He's improving - slowly - though his brain was, almost, mush.
CDC must find the problem's source. (I'd start with Rush.)
