Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Image result for peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies

I have got a cookie recipe that's quite a hit.
Only problem I've encountered is I'm writing it
With this rhyming bug of mine so, do excuse me, please...
Seussilitis ain't ideal for sharing recipes:

Place 2 sticks of softened butter in a mixing bowl.
Add a cup of packed brown sugar. Crack in 2 eggs (whole)
Plus another cup of  sugar (granulated, white)
And 1 cup of peanut butter.  Blend 'til smooth and light.

1 and one half teaspoons baking soda. Then add 1
Teaspoon baking powder, half of salt (You're almost done.)
2 and one half cups of flour; bag of chocolate chips.
Mix, then chill the cookie dough (and wave good-bye to hips.)

Roll the dough into a ball and then in sugar, too.
Place the balls on cookie sheets and grab a fork, then you
Press down. Put them in the oven (350) to bake
For 10 minutes... Couldn't be much easier to make.

A Little Bit Pregnant?

Never thought I'd grow to miss the Seussilitis bug.
Swore that if the CDC developed some new drug,
I would volunteer for trials pursuant to a cure
Yet, now my obsession's gone, I find I'm not so sure.

It was kinda fun to think my thoughts in metered rhyme,
Didn't mind the fact it was a massive waste of time.
Now that I no longer have the fevered urge I had,
I've been thinking that a relapse wouldn't be so bad.

Maybe just a limerick, a little verse or two.
See if neural pathways will remember what to do.
Right now they are pretty rusty so we'll have to see...
But, if symptoms do return, it still ain't poetry.

Apathy v. Seussilitis

Image result for apathy meme
(Courtesy of quickmeme.com)

Haven't written rhymes in months... I really don't know why.
Possibly because I'm giving apathy a try.
I'm not reading books or e-mails; haven't been on-line.
All my time and energy reserved for me and mine.

Kitchen renovations (now completed) left me stressed.
Nightly news and politics were making me depressed...
Donald Trump was only funny when I thought he'd lose.
I'm not laughing now that he's been beaten by Ted Cruz.

Even football got distressing. It's been hard to cheer
When the scientific evidence has made it clear
Football players hurt their brains on every single hit -
I still watched New England though, 'cause I'm a hypocrite.

But, today, I felt some stirrings - got the urge to rhyme -
And, if you are reading this, I thank you for your time.
Hope that you and yours are well and you'll check back to see
If the rhyming bug can help defeat my apathy.

Dear CDC... Never Mind

(Photo of Ebola virus courtesy of itv.com)

CDC's too busy to investigate my claim;
Seussilitis on the rise and me the one to blame.
They've got bigger problems that they need to focus on.
I will try again once this Ebola threat is gone.

Right now I'd prefer them keeping both eyes on that ball;
Drop this one and it could be a death knell for us all.
With two recent incidents when other balls were dropped
And Ebola's spread in Africa - which hasn't stopped -

I don't want the CDC to waste its precious time
Worrying some Typhoid Mary's out there spreading rhyme.
My disease won't kill you, it will only drive you nuts.
I want those folks working hard on saving people's butts.

Really? Not Really.

One of my favorite views on the planet. (Photo/Courtesy of Peter S. Corr III)

I'm imposing quarantine, informing CDC;
Once again the rhyming bug is being spread by me.
Comments on some recent posts are being done in rhyme.
'til we get this straightened out I'm taking off some time.

Sorry if the Seussilitis bug has bitten you...
I'm afraid there's nothing that the CDC can do.
No-one's working on a cure for this dreadful disease
And, though it's not fatal (1 of 10 experts agrees)

It can drive your loved ones crazy - as it's driven mine.
If you quit your reading now I think you'll still be fine.
Hopefully by August, when my quarantine is lifted,
Public feeling on we poor afflicted will have shifted.

Dear Fellow NaPoWriMo2014 Participants... Welcome

Graphic courtesy of NaPoWriMo.net

30 poems, 30 days; a month of poetry.
Last year I completed 30...  This year? We will see.
I'm already sure that there are 2 days I'll be gone.
I'll be off and running well before the crack of dawn.

I will try to post 2 rhymes the next time that I'm back.
They will not be poetry.  I do not have the knack.
Poets can distill a thought with language - make it pure.
I've just got the rhyming bug and, sadly, there's no cure.

My blog tells the news in rhyme but poetry it's not.
They're the product of this Seussilitis thing I've got.
I cannot write poetry because I'm not profound...
Still, I'm pretty good at rhyming.  Hope you'll stick around.

Dr. Seussilitis Gets A Make-Over

My Photo
My old background photo did not make for an ideal reading experience.  (Photo/Courtesy of NASA)

Frequent readers of this blog might notice something strange.
My old format had a glitch...  I had to make a change.
Several people told me that they couldn't read the words.
Since it's hard enough to find news-junky rhyming nerds,

Once I learned the problem, with no clue on how to fix it,
Realized the easiest solution was to nix it.
Had to change the background from a field of starry blue.
Chose to keep it simple and forego my lovely view.

Other than the look of things, there's not a lot that's changed.
I still like to rhyme the news so, clearly, I'm deranged.
But I'm also grateful to those readers who took time
Making me aware they couldn't see the things I rhyme.

'though this rhyming bug means I would write them anyway,
Knowing people take the time to read them makes my day.
Hope I've solved the problem and you'll have another go.
If there's still an issue with the blog, please let me know.

Happy Anniversary to Me.

Happy Anniversary to me - my blog is 2 -
So I'd like to take a moment here for thanking you.
Thank you Crooks and Liars, Technorati...  Thank you Anne.
Thank you to my mother, who is still my biggest fan.

Thank you to my children who've been kind enough to Tweet.
Thank you to my darlin' Mr. S. (which stands for "sweet.")
Thanks to all you random strangers who have taken time
Coming back to see what news I've recapped in a rhyme.

There is still no cure for Seussilitis, I'm afraid.
(Why else would I do something like this and not get paid?)
'though I'd love to make a buck before this blog turns 3,
Who out there is hiring a lunatic like me?
