Sincere Apologies to NaPoWriMo-2015 Participants

Thursday, July 05, 2007

I was so enthusiastic when the month began;
"30 poems, 30 days?" I thought, "Of course I can."
I'd already done it twice before and it was fun,
Loved the feeling of accomplishment when I was done.

Registered my blog on-line...  The next day I got sick,
Thus I fell behind on my commitment pretty quick.
I tried writing 2 a day in hopes of catching up.
Is the challenge harder than I had remembered? Yup.

I salute the many poets who are still on track
(Thanks to those who "Followed" me...  I  tried to"Follow" back.)
But, I think it's only fair that I should let them know;
Will I be amongst the people still competing? No.

I am now so far behind that there is not a prayer
I will reach the goal I set and so it's only fair
That I warn real poets, I'm withdrawing...  I'm a jerk.
30 poems, 30 days is simply too much work.

I believe I'll stick to silly rhymes 5 days a week
Lest the rusty gears inside my head begin to squeak.
I don't want to work that hard - unless they offered pay.
Best of luck to those of you still writing once a day.

#30in30... Done

My farewell to the POET Spotlight seemed a fitting completion of the #30in30 Challenge

April's turning in to May... The Spotlight's moving on.
Silly rhymes won't clutter up this page, 'cause I'll be gone...
But, before I leave the stage, I'd like to thank you all.
I don't know about you guys, but I have had a ball.

If, perchance, you liked my rhymes and want to read some more
Google Dr. Seussilitis... There are rhymes galore.
And, to the real poet that this page will now appoint,
Let me - please - apologize for messing up the joint.

Behind the Curve

30 poems, 30 days...  I've posted 24 -
Meaning that I'm 3 behind (in case you're keeping score.)
Now I'll have to double up on rhymes; write 2 a day
If I want to meet my goal before we're in to May.

I might even cheat a bit and post an interview
Which an honor I received required me to do.
Answered questions with a rhyme and, if I counted those,
You could say I've passed my goal of 30, I suppose.

The Day Before Easter Limerick

Today I am not in the mood.
Forgive me. I know that sounds rude.
There's too much to do;
Can't write rhymes for you.
I have to go shopping for food.

Obligations

April 15th's coming up - when taxes will be due -
So I don't have time to write a silly rhyme for you.
Hope you have an easy time with filling your forms out.
I, however, find myself about to swear and shout.

At The Miriam

(Photo of Miriam Hospital courtesy of Brown.edu)
Hospitals are not the place you want to spend your day,
Even if it's raining and the sky is dark and gray,
Even when the doctor's skilled and all the staff is kind,
Somewhere else you'd rather be would not be hard to find.

That's if you're the patient who is having surgery...
When you love that person, there is no place else to be.
So, if I should miss a rhyme, I hope you'll understand
Sometimes things do not turn out exactly as we planned.

'though I hope to get around to posting 30 rhymes,
Be aware - you may observe a gap or two, at times.
And, if you are sitting in a hospital somewhere,
You have all my sympathy.  I've offered up a prayer.

Dear Fellow NaPoWriMo2014 Participants... Welcome

Graphic courtesy of NaPoWriMo.net

30 poems, 30 days; a month of poetry.
Last year I completed 30...  This year? We will see.
I'm already sure that there are 2 days I'll be gone.
I'll be off and running well before the crack of dawn.

I will try to post 2 rhymes the next time that I'm back.
They will not be poetry.  I do not have the knack.
Poets can distill a thought with language - make it pure.
I've just got the rhyming bug and, sadly, there's no cure.

My blog tells the news in rhyme but poetry it's not.
They're the product of this Seussilitis thing I've got.
I cannot write poetry because I'm not profound...
Still, I'm pretty good at rhyming.  Hope you'll stick around.

28 of 30

Today, seems the well has run dry.
Although I've tried very hard I
Have nothing to say
That's not a cliche'
But here is my old college try.

30 Days of Rhymes

Figures.
30 poems - 30 days...  There's just a couple more.
Probably that's just as well since it's become a chore.
Weekdays there's no competition for computer time;
Weekends I must get in line to try and post a rhyme.

Dear NaPoWriMo... Not A Haiku

An illness has caused me to rhyme.
Today, though, I don't have the time.
A poet, like you,
Writes lovely haiku
While I find a lim'rick sublime.
