Collaborators?

Image result for speaker ryan is spineless memes

 Claiming that our rookie President made a mistake,
Speaker Ryan says we ought to give the guy a break.
Why would someone clear a room if they were unaware
They were gonna cross a line? Republicans don't care?

Trump did not collude with Russia...  He's not smart enough.
He is just a bully who is bent on acting tough.
Not the "best negotiator" if he couldn't see
James Comey's reaction to a "pledge of loyalty."

Trump cannot control himself but that does not excuse
Politicians who think he's a tool that they can use.
I'm no longer blaming Donald Trump...  I fear he's ill.
I DO blame Republicans and hope that voters will.

President Obama's Schmooze Offensive

President Obama picked up the tab at a recent dinner with the GOP. (Photo/Washington Post)

President Obama has been schmoozing it of late;
He and 12 Republicans just had a dinner date;
Had lunch with Paul Ryan to talk budget policy,
Even though the men all differ philosophically

With their views on government and what it ought to do...
Still, he's made an effort which, I think, is overdue.
When you're playing politics sometimes you have to schmooze.
That is how the deals get done; if not, you're gonna lose.

There have been some other signs the ice is growing cracks;
That the moderates will start to guard each other's backs.
Hope that this No Labels movement really catches on
Before any chance to be bi-partisan is gone.

Race for the White House - "Just the Facts, Ma'am"

Watched the two Conventions that the major parties threw;
Listened to the speeches; saw too much red, white, and blue.
First came the Republicans in Tampa...  Platitudes -
Only thing on offer in those southern latitudes.

Heard about Mitt Romney's heart - how he's a lovely guy.
Listened to Paul Ryan, up on stage, tell us a lie.
Saw a lot of older people - most of whom were white -
Speaking of the values represented by the Right.

Then I watched the Democrats in Charlotte all this week;
(Moved to tears the night I heard Michelle Obama speak)
But, I feared that - once again - there wasn't any meat.
Next night, though, Bill Clinton had me glued into my seat.

Using facts and numbers and the details that I crave,
He reviewed Obama's record - gave the man a rave.
Made a cogent argument while laying out his case;
Something that's been lacking in this Presidential race.

Last night as Barack Obama stepped to center stage
(Can't believe how much that Office caused the man to age.
Why on Earth would any person ever want the job?
I could not be paid to take it...  I'm a lazy slob.)

He, unlike Mitt Romney, offered more than just cliche' -
Spoke about specifics.  Romney/Ryan?  Who can say?
They won't tell me why to trust them.  President just did.
That's why I'll support him in his re-election bid.

Race for the White House - Free iPads for Everyone.

"Liar, liar.  Pants on fire;" on his latest quote.
Ryan's telling whoppers while he's stumping for the vote.
Even FOX reporters said he'd reached a stunning low.
If he isn't careful then his nose might start to grow.

GOP's as much as said that facts get in the way.
Don't support the narrative they're trying to portray.
If they told the truth, they think, we wouldn't like their guy.
Therefore, they've decided that it's easier to lie.

I don't have an iPad - yet - but heard that there's an app;
It's supposed to help the voters wade through all the crap.
With the way this race is going lately, seems to me,
Democratic party should provide iPads for free.

Race for the White House - Paul Ryan Goes To The Convention

Yesterday I promised I would try to keep it nice;
Said I'd pay attention to my mother's good advice.
Then I watched Paul Ryan's speech and good intentions flew.
Once again Republicans won't tell us what they'll do.

Pundits say the gauntlet's thrown on Medicare...  So what?
Everybody knows it's broken.  Tell me how a cut
In the tax of wealthy folks will help my mom and dad?

Saying that you've built a business doesn't pave the streets;
Doesn't pay for teachers, cops, or any Naval fleets;
Doesn't keep your parents covered now that they are old.
That, my friends, takes government - and, government needs gold.

Loyal opposition is another thing it needs.
Currently, though words are speaking louder than their deeds,
G.O.P. - with faces straight - accuse the President...
Blaming him for failures when that isn't how it went.

I don't see John Boehner having any kind of luck
Leading the Republicans and, thus, Obama's stuck.
They have been disloyal; offered nothing but complaint.
Yes, I know that isn't nice but, hey - I'm not a saint.

Race for the White House - The Republican Convention

Ann Romney at the Republican National Convention. (Photo by CBS News)

Hard to have a party with a hurricane next door.
Florida in August, though? It's what you're asking for.
Wonder how Pat Robertson explains this hurricane?
(Actually, I really don't...  He's clinically insane.)

Last night Mrs. Romney spoke; I found her sweet and warm.
Though I was distracted by the radar of the storm
I still heard enough to know she loves her husband Mitt.
Charming, poised, and elegant - Ann Romney was a hit.

Other speakers didn't come across as well, I thought.
Christie of New Jersey spoke about himself a lot.
Boehner said the patrons of his bar would always throw
People out the door who disagree.  I'd never go.

Ryan has his speech tonight.  It's one you shouldn't miss.
Don't know if I'll rhyme about it - promised mother this;
If I can't say anything that's nice, I wouldn't speak.
Maybe I should just avoid Republicans this week.

Missouri's Senate Race - You're Kidding Me, Right?

Claire McCaskill's Senate chances got a recent lift
After her opponent gave an unexpected gift.
Something so egregious there's no way he can survive.
If he has the sense God gave him, he'll drop out by 5.

Mr. Akin claimed a woman's body will reject
Pregnancy by rape from a "legitimate" suspect.
"Has a way of shutting down that kind of thing," said he.
(You can bet McCaskill's people greeted that with glee.)

Problem is that Akin's wrong - of course - but not far off.
Read the platform they're supporting first, before you scoff.
No exceptions for abortions.  Choice is always wrong.
Doctor's office isn't where Republicans belong...

Not if you're a woman - Frankly, not if you're a man.
I don't understand objections to Obama's plan.
Help us all gain access to good medical advice.
Women who are leaning Romney/Ryan should think twice.

Race for the White House - Democrats Happy With Romney's VP Choice?

Photo Credit - Win McNamee, Getty Images

President Obama's team has greeted - with great joy -
Romney's choice of Ryan, the Tea Party's golden boy...
Think he chose a running mate like Sarah Palin, but
I'm afraid that people won't perceive him as a nut.

I think independent voters want to see a change;
Whether in New Hampshire or out west, home on the range,
Folks are sick and tired (that's my mother's favorite phrase)
Of the lack of action out of Washington these days.

I don't think the President can only blame his foes,
Even though Republicans reliably oppose
Everything he tries to do...  And, clearly, Harry Reid
Doesn't plan to compromise. Obama needs to lead.

I don't care for Medi-Scare (though Romney Hood was good.)
On the air the ads aren't fair. I think that both sides should
Have a real discussion about what their visions are.
I've seen little evidence of that - at least so far.

The One Hundred and Twelfth - Sick... And Tired

excerpted from an
Article first published as Is Congress Broken? on Technorati.

It's not just Republican's electorate that's split;
('though, congratulations on your Illinois win Mitt)
Not unless they climbed aboard the Tea Partyer's boat.

Seems to me that something's badly broken on the Hill.
With Paul Ryan's budget that no Democrat will buy
I think even Mitch McConnell's tired of the guy.

(I am not a fan of his; I think that he's to blame.
Make sure that the President would only serve 1 term.)
I think that his plan may have mutated like a germ.

Now the whole dang system's sick. It isn't working right.
Only thing the folks in Congress do is preach and fight.
Meanwhile, there are people hurting...  Also feeling sick
Of the whole damn bunch of them - no matter what their clique.
