Myanmar (or Burma, if you watch the BBC)
Seems to be improving now Aung San Suu Kyi's free.
Today Rangoon is celebrating the Enlightenment
At a shrine where, long ago, the Blessed Buddha went.
It's an anniversary; important to the monks.
In the past, the Generals, a nasty group of lunks,
Would harass the people but, this year, I hear they won't.
(If they do the progress made is squandered. Hope they don't.)
Maybe change has really come at last to Myanmar.
If they'd work together that small nation will go far.
Things could be so good for them; forget what Buddha said.
Who would choose more suffering when offered peace instead?
