Worst to First to Worst

Life is like a roller coaster, and I’m about to throw up.”

Worst to first, now worst again...  The Sox are in a slide
And, if you're a Boston fan, it's been a bumpy ride.
Like a roller coaster getting stuck up on the track,
Red Sox lost key players and have, clearly, felt their lack.

Add the fact the bottom of the line-up cannot hit;
That does not help out the Red Sox' cause a single bit.
Almost everyone, it seems, is in a hitting slump.
Now that we're 11 back, there's players that we'll dump.

Rumor has it Peavy's leaving - maybe Stephen Drew.
Hard to guess, exactly, what Ben Cherington will do.
Normally I'd worry that a rhyme from me's a jinx
But things can't get any worse...  This Red Sox season stinks.

Dear New York Yankees... A-Rod? Really?

I've always said he was dirty.  (Photo/sbnation.tumblr.com)

I do not like A-Rod...  I'm a Boston Red Sox fan
Who can't figure out why Yankees choose to play the man.
Muddying their history and tarnishing their brand;
Why the team's employing him, I'll never understand.

Each time that he takes the field a bit of Yankees dies.
Are they really falling for a steroid user's lies?
I've got admiration for Rivera and for Jeter;
Wonder how they like the fact they're playing with a cheater.

Yankees Swept from ALCS - Is That You, Sports Gods?

Photo credit/Getty Images

Could it be the sports gods are relenting, just a bit?
How else to explain the fact the Yankees couldn't hit?
Not surprising A-Rod was so bad 'cause, after all,
He is always really ineffective in the Fall.

Cannot blame their pitching staff for, up until last night,
They ensured the Yankees had a chance; the games were tight.
But, although the scores were close, they'd lose by 1 or 2.
If Yankees don't hit the ball what can their pitchers do?

Where the heck was Robinson Cano' now Jeter's hurt?
Looked like Red Sox players last year (save the pinstriped shirt.)
Mr. S. is feeling down but I've begun to hope
Sports gods may be smiling on me...  Is that taunting? Nope.

Simply an acknowledgement that, for a Red Sox fan,
Nothing brightens up the day like Yankees losing can.
But, I wouldn't dare to taunt before we play the Jets...
Not when sports gods showed the Seahawks' Sherman what that gets.

The Boston Red Sox - Here Come The Yankees

Over 20 years ago I met a Yankees fan
Fell in love despite that fact; got married to the man.
We are very happy with each other through the year
With just one exception, which is swiftly drawing near.

On those days when our teams meet it can get rather tense.
I try to be careful not to cause him some offense.
But, I fear, I tend to cheer when my team scores a run.
Plus, I've made a Red Sox fan out of our oldest son.

We have weathered many storms between us, he and I.
ALCS, down by 3, I almost hit the guy.
Then, thank gods, the Sox came back to sweep the final 4
I'm afraid I taunted him about the Yankees score.

He will take a lot from me despite his birth defect;
(Yankees fans are born that way - in pinstripes I suspect)
But that time I pushed too far...  I'd never seen him mad
'til that day, 2004, I realized I had.
