Another Prayer for The Patriots

Local sports reporters say the Colts are over-matched...
I don't like when we get cocky; chickens haven't hatched.
Even if it's true it isn't nice to say out loud.
Sports gods do not like it. It's a sin and not allowed.

You will never hear New England's players talking smack.
They don't do an interview and make some stupid crack.
They heap praise on everyone that they're about to play.
Other teams don't show as much restraint in what they say.

I'll be watching Sunday night, with toes and fingers crossed,
Praying to the sports gods as the coin's being tossed
(Trying to remember that I mustn't be too snide)
Please dear sports gods; Pats were good.  Let Luck be on their side.

Sincere Condolences to Non-Patriots Fans

Patriots Super Bowl Trophy During the patriots-jaguars

Twelve straight years of winning 10 or more...  While others dream.
I feel sorry for the folks who love another team.
Patriots are 10 and 3 and, currently, in 1st;
Even after San Diego's Chargers did their worst.

Defense for New England did their jobs (and even more.)
Jamie Collins in your face can make it hard to score.
Revis shut opponents down and Browner laid them low.
Bad officiating stole a touchdown from us, though.

Browner hit a guy so hard that he coughed up the ball;
Hit was legal but officials made a bullsh!t call.
Browner used his shoulder - which is bound to leave a mark -
In the end, however, that provided us the spark

Which the Offense needed to go out and seal the deal.
Chances we'll go undefeated, here on out, are real.
I don't wish to count my chickens well before they're hatched,
But the teams we've yet to play are badly over-matched.

On To San Diego

New England Patriots' fans should take Aaron's advice. (Courtesy/memeinternet.blogspot.com)

There, on Lambeau's frozen field, with just a play or two,
Went New England's winning streak; an outcome Pats' fans knew
Was a possibility we faced when going in...
And, may I congratulate the Packers on their win.

I predict we'll see Green Bay again before we're through
 I have hopes there'll be a different outcome when we do.
Pats are on to San Diego - playing Sunday night.
I don't think we're gonna lose that game, although we might.

I still like New England's chance of going all the way
(Even if we never see another run from Gray)
I believe we'll reach our goal; the Super Bowl or bust.
In Bill Belichick and Brady I've put all my trust.

The New England Patriots - Thanks for a Great Season

Football season's over now...  At least, it is for me.
'though I'll watch the Super Bowl, it's not "must see T.V."
Patriots did better than I had a right to hope.
Does that make it easier to lose to Denver?  Nope.

Hard to say for certain why New England didn't win,
Maybe they weren't acclimated and the air's too thin.
Might have been the injuries we've had throughout the year.
Could have been the fact we didn't keep Wes Welker here.

Didn't help to lose Talib so early in the game;
Secondary coverage was never quite the same.
For whatever reasons, Denver was the better team.
Broncos' fans will be the ones who get to live the dream...

Dreams Seattle Seahawks' fans are hoping they will crush;
Their defense is frightening; they've got a great pass rush.
I guess I wish Peyton well but, really, I don't care...
I'd just like to thank the Pats for almost getting there.

The New England Patriots - On To Denver

Photo/Courtesy of WCVB, Channel 5, Boston

43 to 22; New England trounced the Colts.
Heading out to Denver now (the Broncos beat the Bolts.)
Brady facing Manning; one will win the A.F.C.
Who'll go to the Super Bowl? We'll have to wait and see.

Locally our mantra is; "In Belichick We Trust,"
Confident the Hall of Fame will, one day, house his bust.
He's performing miracles this season with the Pats
So, although it's Manning with the record-breaking stats...

'though we're going on the road and it is hard to hear
When the fans at Mile High Stadium begin to cheer,
'though New England Patriots are 6 point underdogs,
I'd still  bet on us (but there's no pay for writing blogs.)

The New England Patriots - AFC East Division Champs

MIAMI GARDENS, FL - DECEMBER 02: Quarterback Tom Brady #12 of the New England Patriots passes the ball to tight end Daniel Fells #86 of the New England Patriots during the game against the Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium on December 2, 2012 in Miami Gardens, Florida. New England made Division Champs; the Patriots can cruise.
Doesn't really matter much if there's a game we lose.
In the Eastern AFC, the play-offs are a lock.
Fans around here don't consider that a major shock.

Yesterday the Dolphins put up an amazing fight.
Their Defense stayed in the game and kept the scoring tight.
Brady's passes early on seemed off (at least to me).
Maybe he was focused more on Gisele's pregnancy...

yikes...

I guess I've been pretty spoiled.  My team is - clearly - great.
Gone, for now,  the days when we were only second rate.
Yet I sit complaining when the Pats just won the game;
Picking on a quarterback bound for the Hall of Fame.
