Ukraine - I Hate It When I'm Right.

Police come under attack when attempting to clear Kiev's streets.  (Photo/Courtesy of Gigapica)

Kiev's Independence Square had fireworks last night;
Demonstrators using them as weapons in their fight.
Viktor Yanukovych sent police to clear the square.
More than 20 people died in heavy fighting there.

Could become a civil war if violence doesn't stop,
If more demonstrators die, or kill another cop.
I predicted this would happen in a rhyme last week,
Said it was an option Yanukovych had to seek.

He'd be facing charges for corruption should he lose,
Plus an angry Putin...  Glad I'm not in Viktor's shoes.
Russia sent advisors in but their advice has sucked.
I'm afraid Ukrainians are seriously....  ahem...  in trouble.

Russia needs to step aside, let Yanukovych fall,
Just accept that who Ukraine allies with ain't their call.
Viktor's out of options now 'cause, either way, he's screwed.
(Please forgive my language - I'm not usually so lewd.)

Egypt - Call Me Cassandra

The Egyptian military has imposed a month long State of Emergency following yesterday's massacre of pro-Morsi demonstrators. (Photo/TheSaint41.com)

6 weeks after Egypt's coup, cops fired on the crowd
Saying Muslim Brotherhood protesters weren't allowed
To continue demonstrating out in Cairo's streets.

Islamists felt victimized and took it to the square
(It's become the custom to hold demonstrations there)
Said it's illegitimate to overthrow a man
Just because you disagree... Only elections can.

Seems to me they had a point and, 'though I don't agree
With the Muslim Brotherhood, elections there were free.
Thousands wounded, hundreds dead, Vice President resigned
And the former President's still very hard to find.

There will be no compromises now - Not after this.
Population's fracturing.  The cracks are hard to miss.
Now, with mounting bloodshed, Egypt's in a downward spin.
It's a situation where America can't win.

The Boston Red Sox - Call Me Cassandra

This is what's left of the ancient city of Troy. (Photo/National Geographic)

Hate to play Cassandra here...  A prophetess of doom,
Faced with disbelief when warning that disasters loom.
You can call me crazy (and you wouldn't be the first)
But, I've grown convinced that Boston's Red Sox have been cursed.

Tried to warn you last year and I'm sorry I was right...
Even worse, but Jet Blue Park is still  the Yankees' site.
That's some major mojo that's been used against our Sox;
Cursed before the team has even gotten off the blocks.

Sports gods are capricious, like the Grecian gods of old.
When they turn away from you your favorite team gets cold.
Look what happened last year and then  tell me that I'm wrong.
And remember Troy; Cassandra warned them all along.
