Netanyahu's Demands

An open secret: Israel's nuclear weapons

Israel's demanding that we do not sign a deal
With Iran.  It's no surprise that's how Israelis feel.
Netanyahu says the deal's an "existential threat"
Even though 6 nations think that it's the best we'll get.

Israel is rumored to hold stock-piles of their own;
Since they've never granted an inspection it's unknown
Just how many they now have - how many they can make.
Frankly, this hypocrisy is getting hard to take.

Nations shouldn't make demands when they are also wrong
So, although the ties between our countries are still strong,
Bibi needs to tone it down; stop acting like a jerk.
He's got troubles right at home that sure could use some work.

Unsolicited Advice for Israel

israel vs palestine conflict

Bibi Netanyahu's won a clear majority
Because most Israelis trust him with security.
Wants a coalition formed with parties to his right
Making any chance for peace with Palestine seem slight.

Bibi's withdrawn his support for the 2 state solution
Even though his new position could spark revolution...
Even though the world believes there's gotta be 2 states
Bibi wants to keep on building walls and closing gates.

'though I'm not from Israel and don't walk in their shoes,
I can't see how that improves security for Jews.
Killing hopes of Palestinians still talking peace
Seems to guarantee that fighting there will never cease.

Bibi's Bid To Congress

NYT cartoon shows Netanyahu turning Congress into an Israeli ...

Bibi Netanyahu was invited to address
Congress by Republicans...  A diplomatic mess.
Many Democrats say they aren't planning to attend;
Partisan divides that may be difficult to mend.

President Obama isn't meeting with the man -
Well aware of Netanyahu's feelings on Iran.
It's not some State secret that I'm telling out of school;
Saying the relationship between the 2 is cool.

Neither leader likes the other yet they have to work
With a guy that they're convinced is acting like a jerk.
This speech may help Bibi with elections in 2 weeks
But Israelis' cause gets damaged with each word he speaks.

"No-one's Ever Lost Money Betting Against Peace in the Middle East"

(Courtesy of Truthdig.com)

Israelis and Palestinians are on the outs...
Secretary Kerry wants to soothe them.  I've my doubts.
Israel's reneged on deals to set some prisoners free.
Talks are breaking down because the 2 sides can't agree.

Netanyahu doesn't trust Abbas (who feels the same.)
Currently, they both insist the other guy's to blame.
Palestinians are angry, and they have a right
Watching new Israeli settlements grow overnight.

Now Abbas is saying he'll appeal to the U.N.
That derails the framework talks and nothing happens then.
Kerry's gone to see if there's another thing to try;
Rumor says we might release an old Israeli spy.

If we plan to free their spy we should get something back;
Major issues needing breakthroughs aren't a thing we lack.
Make them stop the settlements and honor deals they've made;
If there aren't concessions then it isn't worth the trade.

Across the Pond - Dear Israel...

He and Netanyahu haven't had the chance to speak
Since their re-elections. Their relationship was tense;
Netanyahu thinks we haven't sprung to his defense.

President Obama is a man who keeps his word.
So - although I doubt that Netanyahu's reassured -
When he says he has your back then you can just relax...
Israel has allies if an enemy attacks.

Just because we want to give the sanctions time to work
Doesn't mean Iran's a situation that we'll shirk.
Just because we think Mahmoud Abbas has got a point
Netanyahu shouldn't get his nose all out of joint.

If some nation should attack, it's choosing suicide.
We gave you the Iron Dome and - mostly - take your side.
What else do Israelis want the President to say
That he didn't say to you, already, yesterday?

Race for the White House - President Obama Enjoys The View

The President and First Lady sit down with the women of The View. (Photo/ABC)

President Obama's being criticized again;
Didn't meet world leaders who attended the U.N.
This has knocked important, foreign noses out of joint;
'though I wish he'd met with some, I guess I see his point.

With our moral suasion having reached its lowest ebb -
Owing to some weird film that's been posted on the Web -
What could he accomplish; have we not already said
Syria's a travesty?  Too many people dead.

Why sit down with Netanyahu (who he doesn't like)
When he won't agree with him on a preemptive strike?
Why have talks with Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood?
Right now, our relations with Egyptians are not good.

Only thing you get from meetings?  Headlines FOX can use;
Something they can spin about, in keeping with their views...
Which folks did he meet with?  Why did someone get the snub?
Who is in and who is out of that exclusive club?

At the risk of running long, I also have to say
I don't think world leaders would expect it anyway...
Not in this election year - not if they read the news.
I would also choose The View if in Obama's shoes.

Across the Pond - Sort Of... AIPAC

Excerpted from an
Article first published as A Busy Week for AIPAC on Technorati.

AIPAC members had themselves a very busy week.
Every politician in the country went to speak;
(Okay, that's hyperbole, but that was how it seemed)
And it grew more bellicose than most of us had dreamed

Israel's Prime Minister expressed a lot of fear;
He believes Iran's a danger - present, now, and clear.
Netanyahu wouldn't promise he would not attack.
Every candidate but Paul has said they've got his back.

I think Netanyahu's playing quite a scary game;
Raising stakes and saying that Obama is to blame
For the rising tensions we've been feeling from Iran.
I bet that the President's frustrated with the man.

Even though Obama has assured he doesn't bluff
Israel's Prime Minister continued talking tough;
Bidding up the ante through the many threats he's made.
With the cards he's holding, I believe he's overplayed.
