It's another perfect day; I'm headed to the beach.

(Sparing all of you my own incessant need to preach.)

I don't know what's happening in Washington today

And I do not care what politicians have to say.

Can't say if the market's trending up or if it's dived.

Saturday's when summer has officially arrived.

Seeing as it's Solstice Eve, I'm off to celebrate.

Hoping you and yours are well and that your weekend's great.

Who's Steering The Ship of State?

Income inequality, where few hold all the wealth,

Hasn't proven helpful to our economic health.

As we lose the middle class we lose the driving force

For a strong recovery because we've lost its source.

I hate to sound cynical because I'm, mostly, not.

I'm inclined to give something a fair and decent shot,

But I'm an idealist who doesn't understand

How the situation's gotten quite so out of hand.

I've begun to wonder, since we've given this a try

(and we've seen it doesn't work since poor people can't buy

Anything but food and Walmart clothing for their backs.

Unemployment's bad without degrees and worse for blacks...)

Why don't we try something else?  I think it's time we did.

Politicians work for those who've placed the highest bid.

We have got to change the law that lets those bidders hide.

How else will we know if we've been taken for a ride?

Toronto's Crack Hack - Rob Ford

I'd believed that U.S. politicians were the worst;

Guess I should have stopped to check our northern neighbor's first.

Even though I've said that Mitch McConnell is a hack,

He, at least, has not been filmed while drunk and smoking crack.

Sadly, that cannot be said about Toronto's mayor.

The police have tape of him inhaling more than air.

He is very sorry but does not intend to quit...

Not his job and not the booze, but he'll decline a hit

Next time someone offers him a crack pipe... 'Thank you, no.'

His approval rating's up with voters, even so.

Plans to run for re-election and he may not lose.

I must say, this does explain a lot about Ted Cruz.
