Like Watching Real Housewives

 Image result for remember when sarah palin was the craziest

Mr. S. refuses to watch any more debates:
Says it won't affect his choice between the candidates,
Thinks it's ugly spectacle and his last nerve is frayed,
Doesn't have the will to listen. His decision's made.

We don't watch Survivor or Big Brother on TV,
Neither of us fans of that so-called "reality."
This election's started feeling very much like those,
Sorta like the worst of our least favorite kinda shows.

I can see my husband's point about tonight, I guess.
Still, I've set the DVR's record to PBS.
Just because I wouldn't vote for Donald on a bet
Doesn't mean I want to miss how bad this thing could get.

The Massachusetts' Governor's Debates - 2014

State Seal of Massachusetts.

2 weeks 'til the Midterms so I'm watching the debates,
Like the one last night between the leading candidates
For the state's new Governor (on local PBS)
Moderated by respected members of the press.

Format was a conversation; there weren't many rules.
Pointed questions led into some heated, verbal duels.
Baker had a hard time looking Martha in the face.
Both were pressed for details and allowed to make their case.

Martha Coakley did appear a little less uptight;
Baker seemed to come across a lot like Bill Weld Lite.
Both were very well prepared.  It's hard to say who won;
But, in recent polling, Charlie's pulled ahead by 1.

I'll be voting Coakley 'cause her values match with mine
(Though, if Charlie Baker wins, I think we'll still be fine.)
I just cannot make myself support the GOP;
They will never - ever -  get another vote from me.

The Seussilitis SCOTUS Blog

The buffer zone in question. (Photo/PBS.org)

Operation Rescue sued (they had outside support.)
Want to end a buffer zone; they claim it stifles speech.
Doesn't give their members 7 seconds more to preach.

Here in Massachusetts, where 2 clinics were attacked,
Women felt unsafe and so our Legislature backed
Efforts aimed at balancing our First Amendment rights
With a patient's - who's not feeling up for any fights.

Lawsuit has a public face...  A granny with a cross.
Waits outside abortion clinics; gets her point across.
Claims she's counseled 80 women who have changed their minds...
No infringement there (or, so I hope that SCOTUS finds.)

Dear President Obama; Sincere Condolences on Your Victory

Listened to Obama's speech before I went to bed.
One more time unto the breach, as William Shakespeare said.
4 more years to get it right and fix whatever's wrong...
4 more years to try and drag Republicans along.

Watched returns on PBS and, now and then, on FOX -
Just to see what message they'd take from the ballot box.
Country's still divided and, 'though Democrats have won,
I'm afraid the next 4 years aren't gonna be much fun.

FOX believes that Romney lost the race because he's rich,
And that he was moderate before he made the switch...
Wasn't quite conservative enough to fit the bill.
4 more years of crap like that is gonna make me ill.

I can only hope for change in Congress - that they'll see
Time to work together...  Country needs the GOP.
Loyal opposition as we hurtle towards the cliff;
Not like folks on FOX and Friends.  Those people scare me stiff.
