New Year's Resolution

This year I'm resolving that I won't procrastinate.
I won't put things off until the hour groweth late;
I'll re-do our kitchen (as I've said I would for years.)
I'll start using Angie's List to help allay my fears.

We've already got the plans - I only lack the taste...
What if bad decisions lead to lots of cash I waste?
It's a massive project and I worry I'll go wrong...
That's the reason why I've put it off so very long.

Now the door is falling off the oven and the floor;
It's worn through in patches. Plus, I also broke the drawer.
 Keep your fingers crossed for me 'cause I'll need lots of luck
Getting through this renovation (which is gonna suck.)

Merry Christmas? (cont.)

Christmas tree fell over on the floor; I wasn't thrilled.
Needles flew, the tinsel tangled, and the water spilled.
Then our oldest son surprised us; he came home from school.
Room-mate drove him back; now I don't have to...  So, I'm cool.

Still, this year (like every year) I've got a lot to do.
It might be next year before I share new rhymes with you.
Therefore, I would like to wish you joyful holidays.
May the New Year bless you in a myriad of ways.

Happy New Year 2013

Happy New Year everyone.  I wish you all the best.
Hope you had a peaceful season; caught up on some rest.
Husband's back to work again; the boys are back in school.
Told them that I'd miss them (Momma didn't raise a fool.)

But, there is a part of me that's felt so out of touch;
Didn't follow world affairs or watch the news so much.
Listened to the BBC and so I caught the gist.
Details and the nuance were the things I kinda missed.

Dr. Seussilitis re-emerges with free time.
I'm just getting up to speed about which news to rhyme;
So, I beg your patience, please, as I shift in to gear.
Promise to get better as we enter this New Year.

Have Yourselves A Merry Little Christmas.

Wishing you a peaceful and happy holiday season.

Even with a week to go I'm almost out of time.
Christmas season isn't good for writing things in rhyme.
When I start to think about something I want to say
I will get a line or 2 then - poof! It goes away.

Always start to think about something I have to do,
And I'm sure what's true for me is also true for you...
Even if you're organized (which I am, clearly, not)
Sometime late on Christmas Eve you'll find that you forgot

Something that you had  to do which you did not get done.
My advice to you is; let it go and just have fun.
Hold your family extra close this Christmas.  Pray for peace.
May the joy and love you have do nothing but increase.

Since I can't be sure when next I'll have the chance to write
May I wish you all, right now, a Happy Christmas night.
Blessings for the New Year (which is when I will be back;
Hopefully to find I haven't lost my rhyming knack.)
