Unsolicited Advice for Arizona's Governor

Governor of Arizona has a choice to make;

Can a shop refuse requests to bake a wedding cake

If the owner thinks that God would strongly disapprove?

Arizona's Senate passed the bill.  It's Brewer's move.

Will she sign it in to law or veto it instead?

Is discrimination based on who you want to wed

Similar to that about the color of your skin?

Either way she chooses though, Jan Brewer cannot win.

If she signs it in to law it doesn't end the fight;

Only ones who want her to are the religious right.

Even John McCain and Romney asked her not to sign.

It's all up to her right now but, if the choice were mine,

I would like to think that I would choose for equal rights.

But I'd ask LGBTs to pick some better fights.

If a person doesn't like you just because you're gay

Why would you spend money at their business, anyway?

Even if you have the right to force them to, what for?

You could never trust the people working at that store.

Find a better bakery, with folks who wish you well.

Tell religious bigots there that they can go to hell.

Unsolicited Advice for Scott Brown - Don't Do It

 Scott Brown is considering a Presidential run.

Doesn't seem to know that, as a Massachusetts' son,

National Republicans will always think that he

Is a closet liberal who doesn't drink the Tea.

Cruz and Paul and Bachmann are the kind of folks they'll choose.

I think I would reconsider were I in his shoes.

Brown should stick to Governor; at least he has a shot...

GOP's new nominee - post Romney? He does not.

Massachusetts Republicans - Screwed?

Thanks, but no thanks?

Massachusetts cannot get Republicans to run;

Scott Brown, Bill Weld - even Tagg (Mitt Romney's eldest son)

All declined to make a try for Kerry's Senate seat...

Do not want to work their toches off for a defeat.

It's an uphill battle for their Party in my state.

Any chances that will change aren't looking really great.

With these major players out, their Party's in a pinch.

Seems Ed Markey only needs to get by Stephen Lynch.

Can't say that I blame Scott Brown - who lost a bruising race -

His decision proves he isn't just a pretty face.

Bet he runs for Governor and I predict he wins.

(We forgive Republicans a multitude of sins

When they're our Republicans - the Massachusetts kind -

Not the ones in Washington, who've clearly lost their mind.

We don't like to give those guys a solitary vote.)

I bet Scott Brown hasn't, yet, retired his barn coat.

Dear President Obama; Sincere Condolences on Your Victory

Listened to Obama's speech before I went to bed.

One more time unto the breach, as William Shakespeare said.

4 more years to get it right and fix whatever's wrong...

4 more years to try and drag Republicans along.

Watched returns on PBS and, now and then, on FOX -

Just to see what message they'd take from the ballot box.

Country's still divided and, 'though Democrats have won,

I'm afraid the next 4 years aren't gonna be much fun.

FOX believes that Romney lost the race because he's rich,

And that he was moderate before he made the switch...

Wasn't quite conservative enough to fit the bill.

4 more years of crap like that is gonna make me ill.

I can only hope for change in Congress - that they'll see

Time to work together...  Country needs the GOP.

Loyal opposition as we hurtle towards the cliff;

Not like folks on FOX and Friends.  Those people scare me stiff.

Race for the White House - Please Vote

I just came from voting (and it didn't hurt a bit)

Where, if you are wondering, I didn't vote for Mitt.

Hope you'll vote Obama, too and keep him on the job.

Fill a little circle in and then your uncle's Bob.

Voters in New Jersey and New York have got it rough...

Right now they're more worried about where to live and stuff.

Polling places washed away in Sandy's aftermath.

Residents would rather find a place to get a bath.

Sometimes people wait to vote for hours in the sun;

Sons and daughters guarding freedoms their fore-fathers won.

It's a sacred obligation...  Please go out and vote.

And, if you're in Massachusetts, don't forget your coat.

Here it is - Election Eve. The race is nearly done.

Only thing that's left to do is vote, then see who won.

I support Obama.  If you've ever read my rhymes

You'll know I think Romney's changed his mind too many times.

I know he's a decent man, but I think Mitt is wrong.

Trust me...  I've been paying close attention all along.

Want to know the reason the economy's been slow?

It's because Republicans are always saying "No."

Industries will not invest if they cannot be sure

Government can compromise; not stay Tea Party pure.

(Simply look across the pond; austerity won't work.)

Bottom line; the problem? Mitch McConnell's been a jerk.

Hope that, if Obama wins, they'll take it as a sign -

With a looming fiscal cliff, some compromise is fine.

Time to see a course more middle-of-the-road gets steered.

Need to rein the right wing in...  They're getting kinda weird.

Do not cry dear Abby.  The election's almost through;

Though, I promise, everyone is feeling just like you.

Like your Mom, whenever I am driving in my car,

I am also listening to local NPR...

Abby dear, please trust me; you think radio is bad?

Stay away from FOX and Friends and warn your Mom and Dad.

Until this election's through, while lying in your bed,

Dream of pleasant things, my dear, and rest your tired head.

Pretty soon, with any luck, the President will win;

You won't have to look at Romney's constipated grin
But, should Mr. Romney win, I cannot tell a lie -

Abby, you are not the only one who's gonna cry.

With friends like these...?

Romney has supporters that no politician wants;

Shameless, self-promoters "Tweeting" nasty , racist's taunts,

Men who say that pregnancies resulting from assualt -

(If the rape's "legitimate")  the baby is  God's fault.

Guys who say they'll never get a vote from someone smart.

All the lunatics at FOX who've also played their part

Making independent voters stop and question; "Why

Is it that so many crazy people like this guy?"

If we're known to others by the company we keep;

Judging by those kinds of friends - Mitt Romney is a creep.

I'm not buying what he's selling, even were it free.

Anyone Rush Limbaugh hates deserves a vote from me.

Race for the White House Looks Across the Pond

In their 3rd and last debate  - 2 men on a stage -

Topic?  Foreign policy, with both on the same page.

Romney sounded rational, a reassuring change...

Not like recent statements, some of which were pretty strange.

Nothing new that he would do in Syria.  Iran?

Isolating Ahmadinejad?  Is that his plan?

Mahmoud doesn't even get to visit friends in jail.

Romney seemed to say he'd give the sanctions time to fail.

Kissing up to Israel (as usual) both men

Do not plan to push for peace...  Though, if not now, then when?

Romney doesn't think that peace is possible at all.

I think that Obama has a chance - however small.

Neither mentioned Europe; jumped on China quite a bit.

(If he wins, Day 1 will be a busy time for Mitt.)

Differed on some details but, in truth, the bottom line;

Romney just conceded that Obama's doing fine.

Across the Pond - FOX News and the Benghazi Conspiracy

At the next - and last - debate (my anniversary),

I would bet the candidates revisit Benghazi.

I'm not sure, exactly, what the fuss is all about;

Killers of Ambassadors are terrorists.  No doubt.

Who's behind the terrorism doesn't change the fact

President did say it was a terroristic act.

In chaotic aftermaths, in countries far away,

Sorting out the details takes you more than just 1 day.

Just like Mr. Romney's statements (his came out by noon),

President Obama may have spoken up too soon.

Monday morning quarterbacking from the FOX News booth

Claims it was conspiracy to not yet know the truth.

(You won't hear FOX mention the success of that attack

May have been related to a budgetary lack.

State Department's funding cut by G.O.P. blowhards

Means that there's less money for employing extra guards.)

One thing I am certain of - the President was clear -

We will find the terrorists who did it, never fear.

Spare me the conspiracies; I'll let the crazies rant.

FOX should interview bin Laden...  Oh, that's right.  They can't.

Race for the White House - Shake Up in the Northeast

Did you feel the earthquake we had here in the Northeast?

(Not the little bump we got - a 4.2, at least.

That one had an epicenter somewhere up in Maine.)

Last night's biggest shake-up was New York's and this campaign.

President Obama was prepared and wide awake.

Seemed to realize - at last - how much he had at stake.

Romney seemed belligerent and rude (at least to me).

Frequently went long on time; talked over poor Candy.

Only problem I still have?   The President's not clear

On the course his future Ship of State is gonna steer.

I believe that Romney's math is fuzzy and he's wrong;

But, how will Obama and the Congress get along?

If his plan's to stay the course we're on, then I'm concerned.

His attempts to come together - compromise - were spurned. 

We have issues screaming for bi-partisan reform;

Overhaul the system for the looming fiscal storm...

But, D.C.'s so toxic now the system doesn't work.

Mitch McConnell's evil plan's succeeding (what a jerk).

Playing party politics, he fiddles while we burn;

Can Obama fix that if he gets another turn?

I sure hope the President is chugging down the Bull;

That his staff ensures his cup of coffee's always full.

Hope his head is in the game - he got a good night's rest.

At tonight's Town Meeting he has got to be his best.

Never mind what Romney says, it's only gonna change.

Romney's not the guy with whom he's having this exchange.

In this type of format they aren't having a debate,

They are being interviewed.  Obama should do great.

Romney's sure to step in it again, and to his loss;

Think his insincerity is bound to come across.

Can't prepare for how he'll stand for where would you begin?

Only thing that Mitt believes is that he oughta win.

Take it to the People, Mr. President... Not Mitt.

If you have a big idea, please, let us in on it.

Good luck Candy Crowley. I don't envy your job, kid.

Hope you have it easier than poor Jim Lehrer did.

Race for the White House - I Feel Sick

I have not been feeling well; I thought it was a cold,

Plus a massive headache, but I'm no longer sold.

I've begun to think the reason I've been feeling sick?

All these nasty campaign ads I've overdosed on... ick.

Hard to be non-partisan regarding those I've seen -

Massachusetts, democratic liberal's how I lean.

Romney was my Governor; I thought I knew him well

But he's changed so often now I am confused as hell.

My poor head is splitting, spinning - feverish and chilled.

When this whole election thing is over I'll be thrilled.

It is a conundrum though for, should Mitt Romney win,

I will need Obama Care with the state I'll be in

Huh?

Maybe Mr. Romney thinks that lying's not a sin,

Or else he's concluded it's the only way he'll win.

Critics said Obama seemed lethargic and outgunned -

I thought it looked more like he was absolutely stunned.

How do you debate a man if he's prepared to lie?

Any time you make a point he'll simply just deny

That he ever said the things that you have heard him say.

Try to pin him down and watch him quickly slip away.

I don't think John Kerry is the best way to prepare.

Have to find a sales-man who will lie and doesn't care.

Race for the White House - The 1st Debate

I don't think Chris Christie got the memo that went out.

Didn't seem to know his job was sowing seeds of doubt;

Lower expectations for his candidate's debate.

He, instead, predicted that Mitt Romney would be great.

Every single talking head has praised the other guy -

Don't want voters setting the performance bar too high.

Christie went the other route and said the game would change;

Claimed that, Thursday morning, Romney wouldn't seem so strange.

Maybe so...  He's certainly been practicing of late;

Has some "zingers" he's been saving up for this debate.

But, in my opinion, Romney looks like he's in pain

And that grimacing he calls a smile drives me insane.

Yes, I know it's silly to let visuals decide

So I'll try to push facial expressions to the side...

Focus on his arguments and not on how he acts.

Never mind the zingers Mitt...  Let's finally hear some facts

Race for the White House - "Reality Has a Well-Known Liberal Bias."

Recent polls are showing that Obama's in the lead -

Romney's lagging far behind - 'though FOX has disagreed;

Not just media, but polls show liberal bias, too.

Therefore, Romney's really only trailing by a few.

Any time Conservatives aren't happy with the facts

They blame a conspiracy of secret, liberal pacts.

Questioning the science and the motives of their foes;

Finding liberal bias in the things that they oppose.

Yes, it's true that polls are not exact, but still

If there's any truth to them at all Obama will

Win it in a walk-off...  If the numbers haven't lied

It looks like the President will crush the other side.

Should Obama lose this race to Romney, I'll be shocked...

Never mind the millions Crossroads GPS has stocked.

Maybe the economy is not in perfect shape

But, poor Mitt has blundered once again - and it's on tape.

Mother Jones released remarks that he made "off the cuff."

I have listened to it and it's pretty damning stuff.

Said that half our people are just victims who won't work.

Romney, yet again, has come off looking like a jerk.

True that many do not pay a federal income tax;

Doesn't mean they sit around at home and just relax.

Need to have some fat to spare to put "skin in the game."

(This archaic tax code that we've got is what's to blame.)

Said the Middle East is doomed and there could be no peace.

Romney's put his foot in it...  Will wonders never cease?

How the polls are even close I - frankly - do not know.

Think, this time, Mitt Romney's dealt himself a fatal blow.

Across the Pond - Or, According to FOX News; Race for the White House

Best way I can tell I'm wrong? When FOX News thinks I'm right.

That's the situation I was in on Thursday night.

What with all the protests spreading through the Middle East

I thought I should give the folks on FOX a chance, at least.

Then I watched Sean Hannity...  They really call that news?

Interviewing Palin for her "expert" Mid-East views?

She cannot see Egypt when she's standing in her yard.

Tried to find the logic in her arguments...  Too hard.

FOX News blames Obama; 'though, for what?  I can't be sure.

Something about doing some apologizing tour.

Then they played a clip montage and still I never heard

President Obama use the dreaded "sorry" word.

FOX seems more concerned about how Romney is perceived;

Playing petty politics while all the nation grieved

At the tragic loss of life; 4 people lying dead.

Spare me the excuses for the stupid things Mitt said.

Yes, I am still angry at the news from overseas

But, to take the word of those on FOX about it?  Please.

Think I'll stick to NPR with experts I can trust.

Trying to get any facts from FOX News was a bust.

Race for the White House - "Just the Facts, Ma'am"

Watched the two Conventions that the major parties threw;

Listened to the speeches; saw too much red, white, and blue.

First came the Republicans in Tampa...  Platitudes -

Only thing on offer in those southern latitudes.

Heard about Mitt Romney's heart - how he's a lovely guy.

Listened to Paul Ryan, up on stage, tell us a lie.

Saw a lot of older people - most of whom were white -

Speaking of the values represented by the Right.

Then I watched the Democrats in Charlotte all this week;

(Moved to tears the night I heard Michelle Obama speak)

But, I feared that - once again - there wasn't any meat.

Next night, though, Bill Clinton had me glued into my seat.

Using facts and numbers and the details that I crave,

He reviewed Obama's record - gave the man a rave.

Made a cogent argument while laying out his case;

Something that's been lacking in this Presidential race.

Last night as Barack Obama stepped to center stage

(Can't believe how much that Office caused the man to age.

Why on Earth would any person ever want the job?

I could not be paid to take it...  I'm a lazy slob.)

He, unlike Mitt Romney, offered more than just cliche' -

Spoke about specifics.  Romney/Ryan?  Who can say?

They won't tell me why to trust them.  President just did.

That's why I'll support him in his re-election bid.

Hard to have a party with a hurricane next door.

Florida in August, though? It's what you're asking for.

Wonder how Pat Robertson explains this hurricane?

(Actually, I really don't...  He's clinically insane.)

Last night Mrs. Romney spoke; I found her sweet and warm.

Though I was distracted by the radar of the storm

I still heard enough to know she loves her husband Mitt.

Charming, poised, and elegant - Ann Romney was a hit.

Other speakers didn't come across as well, I thought.

Christie of New Jersey spoke about himself a lot.

Boehner said the patrons of his bar would always throw

People out the door who disagree.  I'd never go.

Ryan has his speech tonight.  It's one you shouldn't miss.

Don't know if I'll rhyme about it - promised mother this;

If I can't say anything that's nice, I wouldn't speak.

Maybe I should just avoid Republicans this week.
